Beauty and code

Coding is an emotional experience. It takes you time to design, to think, to develop, to bang your head on the wall when you can’t find a bug, pride when you ship it. All coding steps are filled with deep engagement from the coder’s side. Current code development tools see code as mere text with a special syntax. However, code hides beauty, elegance, and areas of danger. These aspects are usually understood as numbers: performance of code, number of lines or error codes. This reduces the qualitative essence of the code to a couple of metrics and tasteless diagrams. Coders deserve to experience an intimate and highly sensual interaction with their code, this can include visual, audio and haptic expressions. In this project, we use AI to find aesthetical representations of code and generate data sculptures/paintings out of code lines.
